Nike Plus

Hey Guys!

A few years ago, Nike and Apple collaborated to create a fantastic product called 'Nike Plus.'  The purpose of the product is to allow runners to track their calories, miles and distances of their works outs, as well as pair work outs with music.

I recently picked up a Nike Plus from the Apple store and am totally hooked. The Nike Plus package, priced fairly at $30, includes a small chip to insert in the sole of the running sneaker and a device that reads the chip to plug into the iPod. Newer iPods and iPhones sync with the Nike Plus chip wirelessly and do not need the external plug.

Once the chip syncs with the iPod, the runner can choose from an open ended, basic, distance, calorie-goal or timed work out types.

I bought the Nike Plus package over the summer and immediately fell in love. The only problem is the chip - it does not fit comfortably under in the sole of the shoe.  Nike designs various styles of Nike Plus shoes, which comes.

dry shampoo

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! It's time for final exams, projects and added stress from the upcoming holiday season.

Don't forget to sneak in a work out to break up the day and relieve stress. I find that most people avoid the gym during the holidays because it's cold, they're tired, and there simply isnt enough time to go. Here's a quick tip to keep you looking fresh after the gym and really saves time on doing your hair.

The TRESemme 'Fresh Start' line of hair products, which can be found at most drug stores, are great. I especially like the Dry Shampoo.  It is a spray on-powder that smells great and keeps the hair looking fresher longer.  Until recently, I was only able to find dry shampoo from high-end brands, costing anywhere from $30-60 a bottle.  Tresseme's product works just as well as the designer sprays and costs about $5.

Other products I've tried and liked are the no-frizz creme and refreshing mist, which I found worked very well in hot, humid weather this past summer. All the products have a light, citrus scent and add body to worn-out, flat hair.

That's it for now! Check back soon for more tips on how to stay fit and fashionable in the winter months!

Tis the Season to be FIT

I hope you like the new template I've applied! All the leaves have fallen and it's almost December, which means holiday eating, stress and shopping.  Here are a few quick tips to avoid the "Holiday Ten" and look good in your New Year's Eve dress:

1) Desserts are a killer at holiday meals. Don't over indulge - go for a fruit dish or try a bite or two of your favorite dessert. Don't avoid the desserts, but don't go overboard.

2) Stay active. Go for a hike or walk after a fresh snow fall. Play a fun game of flag football after a big Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone stresses out in December with final exams and prep for the holidays - a quick trip to the gym to blow off some steam will keep you motivated!

3) From spiked egg nog to champagne, the holiday season keeps the booze flowing at holiday parties.  Same policy here as desserts - keep the drinking in moderation! Avoid the egg nog too - don't just drink it because it's in a cool-looking punch bowl.  Unless you're a huge fan, just avoid the unnecessary calories and opt for a glass of white wine.

4)  The days are shorter - don't bail on plans and get tired. It's depressing when the car headlights need to go on at 4 p.m., but take advantage of the short days by going to sleep and waking up earlier.  If the winter blues are really getting to you, invest in a sun lamp. These are great and emit the same "feel good" vitamins as natural sunlight does.

5) Last, but not least - don't forget to relax and go on a little shopping bender! Online shopping is a big time saver, so take a study break and make a Christmas list. Here are a few things on my Christmas list for the fashionable athletic girl:

I still love the Juicy Couture tracksuit. Here's a new edition that works well over gym shorts and on its own to lounge around.

Skinny Flare Velor w/ Drawstring
Available in several colors and without the flare.

I also like the new line from lululemon of silver luon products. The material is meant for a more intense work out.
Challenge Pant

I'll have to keep browsing for items to add to my Christmas list for the next post!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Water Proof Watch

Hey Guys -

So, I found this cool watch while browsing through Self magazine.

Oggi Watches
They're called Oggi Watches. They're about $10 and can be found at Target. The brand is better known for its plastic kitchenware products, but this watch is functional and affordable for the athletic girl. It comes in bright colors to add flair to your gym outfit too! I've noticed many gyms don't have clocks (Casino concept?), so this is a great item to bring with you. I'm definitely going to add a green one to my Christmas Wish List!

That's it for now!

BEAT LAF!

Hey Guys,

I just found this great item while shopping at the Lehigh Bookstore on Monday. They were having a sale because our football team won again!! The team is undefeated in the Patriot League - keep up the good work guys and beat Lafayette next weekend!

So-Low 'Lehigh' Pant
Most "coastie" girls would be familiar with the "So-Low" line of yoga pants from their middle school days. The tight pant with a fold over top was very popular amongst tweens to young adults about five years ago. I am pleased to see the brand making a resurgence on the college scene with this item. So-Low's pants are stylish and functional for gym and class, making them the ultimate addition to an athletic girl's wardrobe.  I spoke with my team manager and the general manager at the bookstore about the pant - we may get the pants as part of our team uniform!

Here's a cute hat I bought while in the store, taking advantage of the 'football sale.' I am a sucker for sales, clearly. Great hat though. It's modeled here by a man, but it can defintely be pared with a femine outfit and be worn to class. I will definitely wear this during tennis matches, as it will match our new, all-white uniforms, this spring. Check out more from the Lehigh bookstore at their website.

Everyone at Lehigh is getting really pumped up to beat Lafayette next weekend at the 146th consecutive meeting of "The Game." Here's a really cool pinnie Lehigh is selling this year to promote the Bed Races, an annual Lehigh-Laf week competition, that I actually won last year with the girls in my sorority. Order your pinnie before they sell out - order info.

Stella and Dot at Lehigh!

Hey Guys!

This past weekend, my mom and I put on a Stella and Dot Jewelry party at Lehigh! It was really fun and we had a lot of good sales. Here's a "showcase" blog post dedicated to some of my favorite pieces. I worked out in the rings below - it's treadmill proof! I don't recommend wearing some of the larger pieces to gym, but pearls actually increase their shine with sweat, so don't take those off at the gym!

Stackable Deco Rings
If you missed the party and you like what you see below, you can still place your order before the holiday season to get yourself or the ladies in your life the perfect gift at stelladot.com/carolrose.  Don't forget to enter "Elizabeth Piscitelli" as your hostess!

Pink Week with Under Armour

What a great turn out for all the Pink Week activities last week! All campus groups put together intiatives to raise money for breast cancer research and to raise awareness by wearing their pink! Seemed like everyone was sporting their pink, even at the football game tailgates.

Now that November has begun, now would be a great time to catch up on your pink athletic apparel when it goes on sale.  Check out Under Armour's overview for their "Power in Pink" initiative. The company has been keeping busy supporting breast cancer by collaborating with universities and store to promote U.A. apparel for a good cause.

Here's U.A.'s page of womens' Power in Pink choices.
My favorites are the Womens' PIP UA Draft All Season Gear Frost Tight. They're a variation on the original Frosty Tight I mentioned in earlier posts, but with a twist to support breast cancer.

I also really like the PIP 3" Escape Shorts. These are a great cut for running and are lined.  Too cold to wear these outside, but a must for the gym and an outdoor run in warmer weather.

That's all for now - keep supporting the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research. Save second base!
