Great American Apparal item

Hey Guys!

Sorry I havn't posted in a while - I've been busy watching the Yankees this week. So sad they didn't make it the World Series, but what can you do?

Here's a cool legging I have from American Apparel. It's available in many colors and the shiny material can double the Under Armour Frosty Tight leggings.  They're a little flashy for me for day-to-day wear, but they can be easily coupled with a gym shirt or a nice blouse to make the transition from the gym to a party.

That's all for now! Stay tuned for some Halloween ideas from your athletic clothes!

time to be PINK

Hey Guys!
It's October which means the leaves are falling, the temperature is dropping and most importantly, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Get out your pink and support breast cancer research and fund raising. A great way to do this is through your athletic clothes. Pink is not limited to women, so guys out there, step up and support with your wardrobe!

Tennis Warehouse has some great products in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  The New Balance line is very cute and functional. For the tennis advocates, try these strings this month:
Prince Lightning XX 16 String in Pink
These are great strings for players of all levels and they dress up your racket from its boring white or gray strings.

Lululemon Run: Personal Best Skirt in Pink

Lululemon has also come out a line of pink products this month.  This skirt is a great color and like all lulu products, is very comfortable and durable. Check out "this just in, new products, new clothes" tab on the lulu website for all the pink options.  Here's an interesting product I found:
Lululemon W Brisk Run Arm Wear in Pink

I've yet to try these out, but they look like a great transitional piece for fall weather for the ambitious runner.  If you're not willing to try the arm bands, definitely check out the wrist bands in the same color.

That's all for now on Liz's Latest. Stay tuned for more pieces to support Breast Cancer Awareness month and a live blog on Friday's Yankee playoff game!

tennis uniforms

Hey there!

I'm relaxing at home now for my fall break; what a great way to catch up on some sleep as well as shopping!

As I previously posted in "Where's the brown" I am still struggling to find the right uniform for my team.
At least we were able to make a conclusive decision about sneakers.

Adidas Women's Barricade 6.0
Nike Women's Mirabella 2 Sneaker
Last season, we ordered Adidas Barricades, as pictured above (top). While these shoes are the most durable and have a fantastic reputation with competitive tennis players, they are clunky and heavy in the heel. To rectify this problem, we decided to go with Nike shoes this year. Though Nike shoes have a shorter life span than the Adidas ones, Nike now offers the same 6-month guarantee Adidas has always provided to their customers.  We decided to get the Nike Mirabella 2 in White and Silver, as shown above (bottom). What a great choice! They're much lighter than the Barricades and have a quicker break-in time.

Nike Women's Basic Dedication Tank 2 in White
The next obstacle are the uniforms. The deep burgandy skirts I wrote about in my previous blog were not approved by Lehigh.  This is mostly because the color could be confused for that of a Lafayette Leopard - God forbid!
We decided to keep with the 'Nike all-white trend' we began with the sneakers and have ordered to above top and the below skort.
Nike Women's Border Skort in White/White

No worries, we won't look like we are playing the Wimbledon final - we are going to jazz up both items with some brown screen printing.  On the skort, a 'Lehigh Athletics L - Hawk' will go on the lower right-hand side opposite the Nike swoosh. On the tank, 'Lehigh' across the chest should complement the skort's 'L-Hawk' nicely.  Last year, we had a similar top and screen print design, but paired it with this black skirt, also from Nike:

Nike Women's Basic Power Pleated Skort in Black

It doesn't look like we will get two separate outfits this year, as we have in the past, but two skirts will save us a lot of laundry time!

That's all for now about our tennis uniforms. Be sure to check back later this week - I will post a live blog on the next Yankee play-off game!

Until then, stay fashionable, stay fit ...

...and Go Yankees!!!

rain rain go away!

Hi again!
After a week of rain, we're finally getting some sunshine in the Lehigh Valley! A plus to the rainy weather were some of the trends I saw around campus over the past few days.
A must for rainy weather is obviously rain boots. High quality boots can be found at Hunter. These U.K. wellington boots are extremely durable and can be worn to hike in or in other outdoor excursions.  The matching socks are also great; they're very comfortable and add a nice touch to the top of the boot, where the sock folds over and is visible on the outside.

Hunter Original Gloss Tall Boot and image with sock rolled over

Another fun trend for rainy days are baseball hats. I have a bunch of hats, but never find an appropriate and feminine way to wear them off the tennis court.  Caps are a great fashion piece because they're both functional to keep your face dry and sporty.  Thank god the Yankees pulled off a shaky end to their season to land a seat in the post season! Fifteen post season appearances out of the last sixteen years - not too shabby. I'm sure my Boston and Philly friends will find some reason to knock the 27 rings though...

Back to the fashion though...I'm a huge fan of the Bronx Bombers, so I took full advantage to wear my faded/vintage washed Yankee hat this week, despite the many criticism I got from my "Phils Phanatics" fans.

I found this online.  It's pretty close to the type of hat I have. Unlike more masculine hats with flat brims and bright colors, the faded wash doesn't add clunk and goes well with most street clothes. To dress up this look or to add a more 'feminine touch', bright bangle bracelets, layered necklaces and/or a scarf work well.

So excited to watch the game tonight with my friend, Kim, who's a huge Twins fan. Hoping for a repeat of last year's ALDS!

That's it for now! Check back soon - within the next week or so, I will cover a live event through "LiveBlogging" for my Journ. 198 class!

making the transition

Hey! What a perfect fall day right now in eastern P.A.!!! The leaves are falling and so is the temperature, which means making changes to your wardrobe.

It's studying time here at Lehigh, so the library is crammed with students all focusing and working hard.  As I'm sitting in my cubical, I'm noticing how incredible cold it is!  With fall break approaching, it's important to make clothing exchanges and transition your dorm-closet from Summer short-shorts to layered clothing, sweatshirts and boots to prepare for Fall.  I find the best way to stay organized is to go through all of the clothing I have in my dorm closet and separate everything into "go home," "stay" and "not sure" piles. It's definitely a good time to bring home most summer  things such as sundresses, sandals, shorts, strappy tanks and bathing suits.  I'd say leaving one or two favorites of each category until your next opportunity to exchange clothes at home is a good idea. Who knows when if the weather will surprise us with an 80 degree day in November! Next, I would start a log. This seems silly, but it's much more efficient to keep track of what you're bringing home and what you need to bring back to school from your house.  This way, you save time both while packing at school and at home.

A few suggestions on what to bring back would be nice transition pieces, such as leggings, long sleeved shirts, short sleeved shirts and light jackets/sweatshirts.  I'd say it's a little too early to break out the heavy sweat, Uggs and sweats, but one or two of each for colder days may be a good idea.

A nice look I've seen around campus brings athletic apparel into daily wear, so that one can go from the library to the gym without changing.  My roommate, Vini, has nailed this look perfectly. She plans to spend a day studying before taking a nice break at the gym to work out. She wearing a nice athletic top with Under Armour ankle-length spandex, paired with Frye boots and a leather jacket.  This look is both functional and stylish. She can be comfortable in her outfit all day at the library and avoid making a change before going to the gym (less the Frye boots, can't go on the treadmill in those).  By doing this, one can avoid a lot of extra laundry and stares at the library for being in goofy gym-sweats all day.

Here's a few ideas of some pieces that work well with this transitional look:

UA Frosty Tight in navy and black
The Under Armour Frosty Tight, available in black and navy, is the best optional to complete the transitional look. The pants look like leggings when paired with street clothes, but with a gym t-shirt or athletic tank, can be worn to work out in. They also have a special technology in the fabric that keeps one warm in colder weather! Check out more from Under Armour.

Lulemon also has a lot of option that work well in the classroom and at the gym.  Here is a sweatshirt that would work well with the above U.A. leggings:

A leather jacket and nice leather boots are also staples for Fall fashions.  Here are some great options from Michael Kors and Frye:
MICHAEL Michael Kors Leather Jacket
Daisy Duke Vintage Stud

That's it for now! Have fun mixing and matching your gym clothes with street clothes - don't be afraid to set a trend or make a statement!
