Live Blog: Phillies vs. Giants Playoffs Game

Hey Guys,

So I know I said I would do my live blog on the ALCS, but I was too enthralled with the thrilling come back victory on Friday night to be at the computer in front of the game! So here's the next best thing, a live blog of the rival Phillies vs. San Fransisco Giants from Philadelphia, Game 2 on Sunday, Oct. 17.


Live Blog – Phillies vs. Giants NLCS Game #2 (at Phillies)

11:28 P.M. –Renteria (SF) hits a ground ball on the next pitch to the short stop, who makes the play at fans go wild as Phillies clinch game two and tie the series at 1-1; next game is schedule for October 19th at 4:30 pm in San Fransisco

11:27 P.M.– Madson (P) pitches a ball in on Renteria’s hand to make the count 3-2
11:27 P.M. – The fans are on their feet hoping for the next strike to end the game and clinch the crucial play offs win; 2-2 count

11:26 P.M. - Renteria swings and misses the next two pitches to make the count 1-2

11:25 P.M. – First pitch is low for ball one
11:24 P.M. – Pitching coach comes out the mound; #54 (P) is warming up in the bull pen, Renteria (SF) is up at bat; the Giants need to get the next two on to have a chance (Sandoval from SF is on deck)
11:23 P.M. – The 0-1 pitch is a line drive; game lives on with two outs, guys on first and third

11:23 P.M. – The 'Phantatics' are on their feet as they are one out a way from a tieing the NLCS series at 1-1

11:22 P.M. – Madson (P) throws a ball up high and Ross (SF) has a full count; Ross strikes out on the next pitch looking – Phillies have not seen Ross do a lot of this!

11:21 P.M. - A pitch in on the hands to Ross, he fouls it out for strike two; the ‘Phantatics’ are on their feet

11:20 P.M. - #13 Ross at bat, has Giants only run tonight and two homers last night; first pitch is a strike

11:19 P.M. – count is 1-2 to Burrell; 6 our of 7 balls for the first two hitter in the 9th inning; Burrell hits a bomb to the warning track but Phillies center fielder (#29) makes a diving catch for the first out

11:18 P.M. – Burrell has grounded out twice and struck out; next up for SF is #13 Ross; Burrell started this game with .380

11:18 P.M. – ball three to #23 (SF); four pitch walk to start the ninth – Giants are hopeful with Pat Burrell up at bat

11:16 P.M.  - Top of the ninth, Giants have #23 up to bat in hopes to close the five run gap

11:17 P.M. – Madson takes over for Ozwold to close out the game

11:13 P.M. – huff (SF) catches a fly ball at first base to end the inning

11:12 P.M. – Victorino (P) hits a shot into center field on a broken bat for his second hit

11:11 P.M. – one out no one on; three-two pitch; hard hit to the 2nd baseman and the out is made at first to make for 2 outs in the bottom of the eighth 

11:11 P.M. – both teams on a record for strikes outs in the NLCS

11:11 P.M. – Madson will take over for Phillies on the mound the ninth

11:10 P.M. – Ozwolt after 8 innings has one run on three hits; only run was homer by Ross (SF) 3 walks, nine strike outs for Ozwolt

11:09 P.M. – Ruiz strikes out for out #1 of the bottom of the 8th


11:08 P.M. – Ruiz (P) first up at bat against SF pitcher #54; count is 0-2

11:05 P.M.– #17 SF hits a fly ball to center field, caught, inning over; mid 8th inning, #44 gets a standing ovation as he leaves the field

11:04 P.M. - #17 SF has not been getting around on the fastball night – hits a fly ball on a fast ball at this 8th inning at bat 

11:03 P.M. – Emanuel said to ; behind the plate pop up by #17 (SF), crowd is on their feet cheering – count is 1-2

11:03 P.M. - #17 SF – Lead team in home runs this year; crucial at bat

11:01 P.M. – Charlie Emanuel comes out to the mound to talk to the pitcher; home crowd makes standing ovation and claps – keeps pitcher in the game (crowd cheers even more)


11:00 P.M. – one on, two out, giants batter #21 – hits a base hit into center field above the pitcher’s head; 5 run game, the giants have two on and two out

10:57 P.M. - Phillies 6, SF 1 in top of the 8th; #44 Phillies pitcher strikes out #56 SF
